Welcome to the Lucie Goosies Red Hat Chapter. Our Registration ID Number is 69270 and our city of registration is Port Saint Lucie, Florida. We were registered with Hatquarters on July 17, 2006.

I am the Queen of the Lucie Goosies, often referred to as "Queen Mum, Keeper of Eternal Hot Flashes". My Vice Queens are:  Judith Swink, Marie Russo, Maria Back, Susan Shechtman and  AnnaMarie Cavalea.

As a member of the "Lucie Goosies" Red Hat Chapter, you are of course entitled to a royal title. Sooooo GO FOR IT!! This is your chance to really BE somebody!! If you need assistance, any of our members will be happy to help you. (Or contact the Queen for a list of Suggestions)

Whereas, we are members of the Lucie Goosies chapter of the Red Hat Society, above all, we are gathering to enjoy our sisterhood and to celebrate this disFUNctional stage of our lives ...HATta Way to Go!

Therefore, the only rule is that there are no rules. This is Recess! RULES??? Basically, the Red Hat Society has no rules and is known as a "dis-organization", which sums up the feelings of our chapter. We do have a few firm suggestions and decrees by our FQM. Since she is the Founding Queen Mother of the Lucie Goosies, she gets to do these things! Decrees can and will vary. This is a QUEENocracy, so keep your ears open in case the Queen has changed her royal mind (or is out of her mind...whichever comes first).

BeHatitudes: Wearing a Red Hat (or Pink Hat). As the name implies, the first absolute firm decree is to wear a red hat or head covering & purple clothing (over 50) or Pink Hat & Lavender clothing (Under 50) as simple or zany as you wish. This MUST be worn to each gathering. There will be no exceptions. EXCEPT for your birthday month, the RHS Birthday month (April) and the chapter anniversary month (July) when you reverse these colors and wear a purple hat and red clothing (Over 50) or Lavender Hat and Pink clothing (under 50). BRIM BRUSHING & AIR KISSES may be necessary when greeting fellow Red Hatters.

      HATitude: Hats at all times - The only time hats will be removed in public, is if they will cause problems for other non-members in the area around us, such as theaters, etc. Instead of "Off with your head" it will be a decapitation.

     PURPLing: Below that hat so red, a purple outfit to fit the occasion. In the words from the "Warning" poem written by Jenny Joseph, from which the RHS started:

​

               "When I am an old woman, I shall wear purple

               With a red hat that doesn't go and doesn't suit me."

​

     Even if you want to balk & complain like an "Old woman", you shall wear purple with a red hat...and that's that! You can't spit on the sidewalk if you're not in regalia.

     LAVENDERing: Is there such a word? Below that hat so PINK, Lavender you should wear instead (those under 50)

     Chatterbox (Happy Talk): During Lucie Goosie Get-togethers, only happy topics. FUNitude should be part of conversations. Scarlet Sparkles are stories of something serendipitous that happens in the life of a Red Hatter. Lucie Goosies facing challenges in life in general can and should be supported by phone, in the car on the way to the gathering, by mail. At the gatherings, we want to keep everything light and fun. This is our recess time, our time to play.

     HAThosting: Responsibility to the chapter. Small jobs held by Lucie Goosies are necessary for the smooth running of the chapter. You might be asked to assist in some manner. Chapterettes are expected to be responsibile for being our Hostess about once a year. This includes planning a get-together or outing, notifying the other members, distributing driving directions with possible parking concerns, costs and taking care of whatever fun things that are planned. This can be shared by two members.

      Red Spread: Chapter size is limited to 30 Lucie Goosies.

​

     HATtendance - Attendance at our monthly gatherings (2nd Monday of the month) is anticipated by all Lucie Goosies. If you want to remain active in the chapter .. BE ACTIVE... Be a HAToholic!

​

     Red Gloved Hand of Friendship: Members may bring a guest to Lucie Goosie events with the permission of the Queen Mum and the event hostess.

​

     Keruffle (to throw into disorder, ruffle, confusion or fuss) - RSVP's are very important, especially to our hostesses. We do expect that you RSVP either way- whether you can or cannot attend. If your RSVP is not received by the cut off date given, you will NOT be able to attend the event. We desire to be "fun-loving" and forget the rules, but we are not to be irresponsible to our fellow Lucie Goosies.

     $$$ Feather Dusting - When an outing necessitates the planner to hold reservations and you put your name on the list to attend, if for some reason you have to back out at the last minute, you are still expected to pay. We will try to fill your space and reimburse the money, but this is not always possible. The royal treasury has no funds to cover this cost. When you sign up to attend a Treasure Coast event, money is always required in advance. This money is non-refundable. All checks for Red Hat Events, and Black Hat Events should be made out to Eileen Barrett and send or give it to the Queen. The Queen sends a form and ONE CHECK to cover our group to the event. If you want to sit with US at an event, please do it this way ...otherwise you will find yourself sitting at a different table.

     Rubies & Amethysts : dues - Each member is expected to be a supporting member of the Red Hat Society. The annual dues for membership is $30. National registration, $ for scrapbook, birthday and get-well cards, stamps and door prizes for events will be taken out of our treasury which comes from events that we host.

​

    Members of the Hard Hat Brotherhood - Men are not invited to our get-togethers unless they are cooking or driving. After all, this is a sisterhood. On RARE occasions we may include our DH's (Dear Husbands).

​

     YARNsters (Children) should not be at the events or get-togethers. We've paid our dues. It's our time to play.

​

     All Red Hat communications are carried out through e-mail. I recommend that you check your email at least once a week, or you might miss out on some FUN!

​

     Rrrrrrr-Hat-ifying exceptions to the guidelines will happen, as does life. Just contact Queen Mum and we'll work it out.

​

     In spite of the above guidelines, the most royal of decrees is to come HAVE FUN, LET LOOSE, LAUGH, CHAT, EAT DESSERT FIRST, CHORTLE, BE A LITTLE CRAZY, BE A KID AGAIN, EAT CHOCOLATE, WEAR FUN STUFF,  GET GLITZY, GUFFAW, TAKE PICTURES, SMILE AT PEOPLE, BLOW BUBBLES, MAKE CHILDREN LAUGH, GIGGLE LIKE A CHILD, SHOP, SHOP, SHOP, EAT MORE CHOCOLATE, DO GIRLY STUFF, REJOICE, FORGET ABOUT WHAT OTHERS ARE THINKING (THEY ARE THINKING THEY WISH THEY WERE HAVING AS MUCH FUN AS YOU ARE) and ENJOY YOURSELF WITH YOUR SISTER LUCIE GOOSIES!
